Pirates Fan Falls 21 Feet at PNC Park During Cubs Game: Fan in Critical Condition After Stadium Accident

On April 30, 2025, during a Major League Baseball game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Chicago Cubs at PNC Park, a fan suffered critical injuries after falling approximately 21 feet from the right-field bleachers onto the warning track. The incident occurred during the seventh innings, shortly after Pirates player Andrew McCutchen hit a go-ahead double. The fan, seated in the front row near the 21-foot-high Clemente Wall, appeared to grab the railing before losing balance and falling onto the field. Another individual jumped down to assist the fallen fan, though their relationship is unknown.

Emergency personnel, including Pittsburgh EMS and athletic training staff from both teams, responded immediately, providing care before transporting the injured man to Allegheny General Hospital. He remains in critical condition.

The game was delayed for approximately 10 minutes as players from both teams knelt and prayed. Pirates manager Derek Shelton and Cubs manager Craig Counsell witnessed the fall and expressed deep concern. Andrew McCutchen shared a heartfelt message on social media, urging fans to cherish their loved ones.
